Appalling customer service.

I’m a forest school leader and member of Senior Management within a Primary School in South Wales.

I purchased a bookie shelter with them back in October. Our cambium trainer (level 4 forest school leader) erected the parachute for me using the correct ropes and knots. He is well trained in erecting shelters and does so on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis.

The tarp then ripped at the seam and I am unable to use it. You can clearly see that from the way it has teared in the photos attached to this review.

I tried endlessly to contact someone within the company through phone calls and emails without any luck. I can see by the previous review that others have experienced the same problem.

It is now March and I have not received a refund/ a new shelter. I have provided them with extra photos of the shelter, the area in which it was erected and also an email from our Cambrium trainer to confirm the story.

At the time of the incident, I had not yet taken out the warranty on the item but I believe this is clearly a case of a faulty item! They have requested that I send the parachute into them with no promise of a refund (even with multiple photos being sent) and won’t cover the cost of the shipping that I will now have to pay for in order to send it.

If you’d like good customer service please don’t use this company!

Appalling communication and customer service.
I contacted Greenman Bushcraft 7 weeks ago to request to return a large tarp (the day the delivery arrived) as it wasn't suitable for our purposes. I received no reply for 3 weeks despite phonecalls (not once answered) emails and messages. I eventually was given a return address and despite proof of delivery I am yet to receive a refund. I have been promised "next week" on three occasions but am told they are having problems with internet, phones, warehouse, etc. Whilst I'm sympathetic to their struggles, I am left chasing and worrying if I'm ever going to receive a refund for an expensive item. Apparently the tarp now needs to be sent to another warehouse for checking, but no explanation given and it feels very much like I'm being fobbed off. Very disappointed, I was previously a regular customer but won't be shopping with them again.

I have used this site several times over the years for both personal use and in the capacity of QM for my local scout group. I have never had any problems and the items have always been of the quality described. They seem to take their checks of knife purchases seriously which has to be a good thing even if it introduces a slight delay. Great for knives, fire steels and hammocks!

This is the second product I have purchased from Greenman Bushcraft.
The item is great value for the money and the delivery service was excellent.

The axe will certainly make chopping wood for the fire much easier and is a very nice piece of kit.

Really good quality gloves for the low price.
You can smell the real leather when you open the bag. They feel really thick in the fingers and palm which is reassuring. I had a little blip with my order, but a polite email to the team and they were brilliant in helping to rectify this. 10 out of 10 for customer service.

Ordered a Ganzo Firebird Machete from these guys. The price was fantastic - cheapest I'd found. Ordering was simple, having uploaded proof of ID/age and delivery very prompt. Couldn't fault.

The description and photo showed the knife with a fire steel and sharpening stone and a sheath with a pocket for the extras. The knife that turned up was just that - the knife and plain sheath (no packet), and no steel, etc. I dropped a polite email saying that although not a deal breaker, the goods weren't as described, etc and was quite surprised when a couple of days later I received a very apologetic phone call from a lady who explained that the supplier had changed the item, not told them and therefore they hadn't realised. She promised the website would be updated (it has been already) and that as a gesture of goodwill they'd send out a fire steel (i've yet to receive this but i know they're busy and it has only been a few days, so i'll take them at their word).

I like an honest trader, and one who doesn't mind admitting when things have gone wrong. Online trading has removed much of that honesty. It's refreshing to find traders who still see the value in ringing customers for that human element.

Despite the minor hiccough, I would happily deal with Greenman Bushcraft again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for this kind of gear. Aside from which, they plant trees for you - how wonderful is that!!
